Thanks for the hint about the BIOS upgrade. That fixed another bug :-)
However, the SD card reader still sucks.
But something has changed. Now the slot starts working immediately after
the "rmmod tg3" command. This is one step earlier than before. The log
messages of dmesg are the same as before.
Also tested with Linux box 3.8.12-030812-generic #201305080147 SMP Wed
May 8 05:48:34 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux and no problems
were encountered.

I investigated the issue a little more. Whenever I put the computer into
standby mode, I need to unload the tg3 module again. When the module was
already unloaded before suspend, then I have to load the module after
suspend to get the SD card reader working. So both actions awake the SD
card reader
AFAIRemember (can't check right now) the exteenal GD 2.0.x doesn't have
support for wbmp. Thus not a bug, but feature request that can only be
solved with GD 2.1 and PHP 5.5.
But I might be wrong, check ext/gd/gd.c in !GD_BUNDLED part.

slightly different (High-Res display) and the pci id is somewhat different. So
I edited the patch supplied there and try to fix the issue. However the screen

It looks like you had a customised version of /etc/mysql/my.cnf. Perhaps this
is why errors are not being logged to /var/log/mysql.
Please could you make sure to purge all the mysql related packages and then
install again? If you still have a problem, please then attach the
/var/log/mysql/error.
That's great news, Stuart. Yeah, it does seem like the Fn-F9 key combo
removes the camera.
It would be good to capture some logs of what is happening when Fn-F9 is
pressed. Can you capture the syslog output when pressing that key
combo?
