Just wanted to add that I am using a Lenovo w520 and this bug appeared
after I upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04.
I also found another work around. I can go to All Settings -> Network
(or just Network from the Unity Menu) and change the wifi network from
there. I can also stop and start the wifi from t
well, my ubuntu was in a kind of a crash, because i have an optimus
based notebook, and with the latest upgrade it forces to install the
nvidia drivers from the repo (wich arent compatible with optimus) so
after a restart my unity was gone. but before i restarted i came across
this VLC player issue

I was able to solve that bug for rar-files by downloading a new version of
WinRAR, see

When upgrading Firefox from 16.02 to 19, our automated browser tests
took approximately twice the time to complete. When interacting with the
browser manually it appears to be noticeably sluggish. A large number of
these errors were seen in the terminal:

I would suggest that PulseAudio only be the default on distros that use
it. I use Debian which doesn't use PulseAudio by default, and somehow
this change seems to have trickled into it as well, judging by the
comment from lib/sound.properties to provide feedback on this Launchpad
bug.

Correction to my earlier comment: it is the update-initramfs trigger
during the linux-signed-image-$abi install that handles making the
initramfs, update-grub2 only has to find it. :)
