this via grub for failsafe. Perhaps we shouldn't, but until that's

It looks like nouveau is gpu hanging on boot for some reason.
When you're setting nomodeset, it's disabling nouveau entirely so you're
booting with vesa, which won't give the best graphics. Anyway, that's

upstream kernel, it is even worse: The machines hang *every time* during bootup.

So, the problem is the laptop monitor is off until some application
turns it on? If you want to permanently disable the output add
video=LVDS-1:d to your kernel commandline. Otherwise, it is a policy
issue that needs to be enforced across the entire system.

Same error message as Brad Figg posted above. Was upgrading from
3.2.0-34 to 3.2.0-37.
Additionally, i got some dependency problems with it, telling me linux-
image-generic depends on linux-image-3.2.0.37-generic, but linux-
image-3.2.0.37-generic is not configured.

Instead of trying upstream, I have tried downgrading. I have been
running with 2.6.32 without any problem for few days (with both tuners
and all the channels activated). I will try to report the bug upstream
later.
