I was having screen artifacts.
Switching from the proprietary Nvidia version current to post-release

I just tried the latest upstream kernel (3.8.0-999generic), but the
problem persists. I did try kernel 3.2.0.37 when it became available
through the Software Update Manager, and it booted successfully once.
However, since that single success, I have not successfully booted into
any kernel after 3.
The defaults have changed. One can change the value of
enable_periodic_fsck /etc/mke2fs.conf to reenable periodic fsck on newly
created filesystems, or use tune2fs to re-enable them. Note that a boot
time fsck is still attempted by mountall, so fsck will be run if the
settings on the filesystem are

systemsettings (1.0) on KDE Platform 4.10.00 using Qt 4.8.3
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
opening input devices, this crashed started because of the way the new
synaptics driver shows its version (0.10) and confus
I pulled the package in debian and it conflicts with initramfs-tools.
Please fix this in Debian first by filing bugs in Debian BTS and working
together with Debian Maintainer.
Such major changes for a potentially core package are not appropriate in Ubuntu.

I just tried to acces input devices - touchpad and system settings
crashes everytime. Tap and scroll do not work on system

This problems hits me while starting KDE (version 4.9.5 on kubuntu
12.10) with both network manager plasma widget and chromium: kwalletd
hangs and must be killed to get things working again :-(!
Any news on this annoying issues?

Is this actually being worked on?
It's rather high impact if kwallet is being used to store wireless
passwords. I was unable to get online until I figured out what was going
on and disabled the wallet.

Output is configurable as described.
Input always uses 512 or 1024 as most people would expect: I rejected
patches to change this upstream when this last came up for discussion
several years ago for multiple reasons amply covered in the ubuntu wiki

Note that there a large number of bug fixes in e2fsprogs 1.42.x maint
branch since 1.42.4 at this point, including fixing bugs which can
cause massive data corruption when using resize2fs on 64-bit file
systems, as well as fixes to e2fsck, including bugs which could e2fsck
to crash in some cases,
I really don't want to special case btrfs.
But I see that with very large hard-drives it can be a pain.
Note, that earlier mentions of ext4 do not apply here as most of the time it,
fsck on ext4 quits reporting filesystems as clean.
