I see this same behaviour on two of my Ubuntu machines (one a VM, one a
physical host). Given that they both report the chgrp error on different
files, my initial suspicion is that the issue is related to the number
of packages installed or the number of files/directories in /etc.

The problem seems to be that the window does not have focus (= is active).
Instead, the window that was active before keeps its focus. In Unity, the
active window is always in front. So, if the currently active window is
maximized you won't see the time tracker

If you upgrade from 11.10 (where my lens was available in the software centre)
to 12.04 you're able to see the app also on 12.04

demential mixing of icons in Unity's launcher where launcher icons to
open new applications are stupidly mixed with icons of existing open or
minimized windows (because Apple does it doesn't mean it's a good idea)
pbuilder-dist crashes also with the same error, maybe it's relative to
the last devscripts upload to raring ?
