Mateusz, if you don't use network manager, please stop it and stop it
starting automatically at boot. You can do that with the "rcconf"
console application. Also, you should be able to use network/modem
manager. Are your issues covered by bug #848164? If not, please open a
new bug report.

I was previously running Ubuntu 11.10 on my T3400. No further updates
were being offered, so I upgraded first to 12.04 LTS. I noticed that the
built-in Ethernet hardware is not recognized.
Then I upgraded to 12.10, hoping this would be resolved. It was not.

PS: Under Ubuntu 11.10 the built-in Ethernet hardware on my T3400 was
indeed recognized and fully operational, as was the WiFi card.
It is only since upgrading that my T3400 Ethernet hardware is not
recognized at all.
Can somebody with programming experience or hacking experience go back

That may as well be related to IvyBridge. Though curious does that only
happen while you are on the desktop i.e. when the desktop is focused.

Dave, Restoring the original libcario module fixed evince --- now NX is unable
to display text again.
Not being real familiar with the internals of Linux, It never occurred to me to

Ubuntu runs considerably faster with the resolution set to 1024x768
