I have now tried all the different methods I could find to upgrade the
BIOS, including making a .img file and booting to it from grub. In the
cases that work at all, I get the message at the DOS prompt 'Test.' It
appears that the .exe file has been nerfed so it will only work
'properly' under Windo
My brother just hit this bug many times since yesterday on a folder with
~6000 pictures (I do not know if that can be helpful) with an Ubuntu
12.10 fully updated as of yesterday (12/29/2012).

Root cause of udisks problem is "bug" in partition table - nested
partition on extended partition. System is functional, however, udisks
reports wrong partition type because of this.

I unlinked /usr/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1

gparted starts now normally! (have no idea what I broke by unlinking the

Yes, I tried that. 'active-card' was set to
PlaybackEingebautesAudioDigitalStereoHDMIPulseAudioMixer
(witch it didn't affect) and I set it to
PlaybackEingebautesAudioAnalogStereoPulseAudioMixer
witch didn't work either.

In id3tag.h, the type id3_ucs4_t is typedef'd as an unsigned long.
Clearly this type needs to be a 32 bit unsigned int but an unsigned long
is 64 bit on a 64 bit system. Changing the typedef to read
typedef uint32_t id3_ucs4_t;
and #including fixes the problem.
