I've been having issues with ath6k, where the connection suddenly dies
(normally shortly after booting but not always). With the syslog full of
messages, like: "DMA failed to stop.." "Could not stop RX" "Unable to
reset channel" etc. After the latest kernel update (3.5.0-19) this

Need support for ALSA 1.0.25 on 12.04 LTS

This bug is incredibly annoying. I can reporuce it on both my machines
running gnome-shell on ubuntu 12.10 (doesn't seem to happen for me in
unity).
To reproduce it I type synaptic in gnome-shell and hit enter. Happens
every time the dialogue immediately says to try again.
BUT If I type synaptic
@Kim, one solution would be installing a newer kernel (precise has
backported 3.5.x quantal kernel in the repo), since ALSA userspace is
already version 1.0.25
Since you are using a HDA device, another solution would be using David
