Rebooting my computer again, didn't make these connections reappear.
The way I finally got them to reappear was that I removed the category 5
cable from my laptop. Then, when I went to "VPN Connections" they were

I used to have this problem, but it eventually went away, and now it's
back.
When I boot, my keyboard and mouse are nonfunctional. They become
functional if I wait, just about long enough to wake my slow Vista
netbook from sleep and log in via ssh. This is relevant because if
FYI, I've gone from F.12 07/31/2009 to F.19 06/08/2010 (latest is F.20 but that
only updates the flash procedure).
Also, yesterday I reduced kernel swappiness from 60 (default) to 10 (as
recommended by htp://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/bugs); this
already seemed to improve things

In numerous applications I use, Unity launches their small dialogs into
the opposite monitor from which I'm using an application. This behavior
is rarely useful to me, and actually causes me to have to do a lot more
mousing, while using a particular application;
For example,
after a face to face chat, it seems this one was a no-issue actually,
closing the kernel side.

I can't see where dmraid advertises its sector size!

Anyone out there have any ideas? I am having numerous problems with
12.10 and being unable to report the bugs might give the mistaken
impression that they don't exist. It seems like bug reporting might be a
priority.
