A small update.
This 3G-modem (ZTE MF190J) works well Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal). Only one
thing needs manual intervention. I have to unmount (eject) it manually from the
file manager or Ubuntu-icon. After that it connects well.

How safe would it be to save the partition layout (eg sfdisk), zero the start
of the disk, reapply the partition layout, and grub-install?

1 - Think we should download both dbg and regular xserver-xorg-intel
packages in PPA
2 - After installing those packages, we should reboot the system
Then install fglrx driver (I've installed 12.11 successfully for m

The Rhythmbox developers have fixed this slightly differently. I've
updated https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/rhythmbox/ubuntu with
their patch if you'd like to re-upload since this hasn't been accepted
into quantal-proposed yet.

This time with the kernel 3.7.0-030700rc2 it was even worst then before.
It works for a while (about an hour-two) then it freezes again. After the
restart the whole X session becomes unresponsive, second restart the same.

I thought that my problem might be that my emachine laptop is to old
for unity (?) so I tried a clean install of lubuntu and was able to
get the sound working. Under lubuntu the new proprietary drivers
would not support my on board wireless modem [ATI IXP AC97], but I got
that working wel

I have NFS shares defined in /ect/fstab, that mounted without problems
in precise. In quantal, now and then during bootup, I get the message
" is not ready for mounting yet". Left in that state, bootup
waits forever, no matter if the NFS share gets available or not.

The instructions there (starts at [12:11]) are actually wrong or
outdated, it's not "--remove" but "--remove-all":
sudo update-alternatives --remove-all gl_conf
This solved the issue in my AC100.
