got a hardware fault; probably
a break in the lead/connector between the hard drive and the controller.

I have found that it's a bit hit-and-miss in Unity, too. Unless I
specially use CTRL-ALT-L to lock the screen, often when I come back and
the screensaver is on, it doesn't ask for my password when I press a
key. Sometimes it does ask for the password. I wonder if that is
related?

good idea for SRU. I'm not sure whether 10s will be too long for some

Since upgrading to 12.10 Quantal, three times after coming out of standby my
WIndows NT drives have reported
cannot access /mnt/WindowsVistadrive: Transport endpoint is not connected
The problem goes away on reboot.
Participants in the arch forum report exactly this proble
as we both confirmed the problem was not just involving gwibber, I added
unity and ayatana as affected, to give this report more visibility

When I first started kmail it asked if I wanted to upgrade to the new
version that uses akonadi. I said yes and it almost immediately said
that it had failed. But that I could try upgrading again from the
command line. Kmail started but I do not see any of my mail folders.
