I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on an old netbook. GNOME2 is hauntingly
usable compared to GNOME3 or Unity (which barely works on the device).
What are the technical barriers to MATE's inclusion in the Ubuntu repos?

You say nfs-kernel-server is causing high cpu load - how do you know it's that?
top?
What type of traffic is it transferring; large files, lots of small files?
Please add:
* your /etc/exports from the server
* The output of cat /proc/mounts from the client to show how it's
mounted
The manpage says that parallel takes it's input from the command line,
not stdin - e.g
parallel echo -- 1 2 3
1
2
3
I think you should be able to use xargs -P to do what you want.

Actually, a bit of reading suggests that remapping the boot drive (even
a USB stick) to 80H is the right thing to do anyway, so is probably the
behaviour of most BIOSes, and probably not the cause of this bug. I'll
leave it to others to debug more formally at some point, though.

1 - Get a notification from a friend. Messaging menu turns blue.
2 - Open the notification menu. Click the incomming message notice.
Expected result:
Empathy's chat window opens fast and you can read and answer the
message.
Actual result:
Empathy halts
Hi,
mlocate should be sgid to get permissions; so can you do:
ls -l /usr/bin/locate /etc/alternatives/locate /usr/bin/mlocate
/var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db
and include the result.

Just installed libao-ruby for the first time. Attempting to run the
