clue if it's still happening :)
Unfortunately, the lack of help and documentation on getting Ubuntu to
work 100% correctly on my computers extremely slow response times on
support (like this) made me switch away from Ubuntu.

Yes, your configuration matches mine (disks are all LVM, with no
separate non-LVM /boot). Also, your work around is much the same
approach I took, though I did also migrate to a GPT partition table in

I believe this is the intended behavior. These packages, which enhance
the support for the target language but are not required, have never (or
at least, not in recent times) been included on the images. So it's
expected that you will be prompted to download them when the network
becomes availabl

After reboot I got my desktop without any messaging menu, see attached
screenshot.

Yes, you are absolutely right. For all those countries the setting should be
`latam`.
For some reason settings for Argentina is `ara` which
I also tried the Lubuntu alternate powerpc yesterday 20121014 and it
failed as well.. It was noted on qa-tracker. I will add to this bug the
reference to the kernel that I can see after a reboot. Not on my G4 but
this is what I saw early in the scroll 'Oops: Kernel access of bad area,

This still doesn't appear to be working correctly. I've got a T61
running 12.04.1 and on every boot it still has bluetooth enabled all the
time.
It's saving the state to /var/lib/rfkill/saved-state correctly but on
startup it never gets restored. If I manually run "sudo start rfkill-
restore" it w
Appears to be no longer an issue in ubuntu 12.04
If I ssh to my box and try to access scanner from the shell (e.g.
scanimage -L) the device is not accessible; but once I add myself to
group 'scanner' and logout and back in again, it works fine.
There is clearly the correct ACL here.
