It definitely is the .svg despite my earlier statements. I think if you select
an icon by svg it gets cached. If you put a desktop file with
/usr/share/xdiagnose/icons/microscope.svg as the icon, and then try to add that
one, it will crash.

Horrible. We do not see this idiocy on Debian Systems, it is an UBUNTU
problem. Apparently they re-packaged it without knowing what they are
doing. Mint exists because why. Please make your changes much miloder,
and concern yourself with the source. If they aren't doing it, then

@Jim: Marking it invalid doesn't change the fact that, were it not
marked invalid, it'd now be on the second page of results for all Ubuntu
bugs sorted from most to least heat.
All that in only 22 hours generally implies that, if nothing else, you
need to rethink your PR strategy for a feature.
tried manual install of nvidia current driver:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/nvidia
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
and when running NVIDIA x server settings a dialog says to run sudo
invidia-xconfig, which I did, then rebooted.
The display is still low res
