is not an Ubuntu bug but, rather, affects Google Docs. Furthermore, it
appears to me that this is (1) not specific to the Ubuntu font (I have
confirmed this appearance with "Calibri" in Google Docs) and (2) not

For the record, now I have the original problem again, I was not
halucinating:
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise
false
but still compiz is auto-raising windows again. I don't know how to stop
it from doing that..

I do get the failure as well when building locally. Somehow that failure
doesn't seem to happen in the buildd environments. I spent a couple of
minutes trying to find out how the key file is created in the first
place, but it's not dbus-lauch or dbus-daemon itself by default.

Those errors aren't critical, and they shouldn't be the sole reason for
the failure of Unity for you.
First, how are you running unity? Try running "unity" in a terminal, if
that doesn't help then try "unity --replace". If that doesn't work, then
try "unity --reset" which should hopefully fix ever

The usblp0 messages in your kern.log are normal. They are caused by the
"usblp" kernel module being detached from the printer when CUPS accesses
the printer and re-attached when CUPS is done accessing.
To find out why your printer gets unaccessible after a short time,
please follwo the instruction

Hm, is this a valid issue? /etc/lsb-release is part of base-files which
in turn is:
Package: base-files
Essential: yes
Priority: required
So all systems should have that. Or am I missing something here?
