every single job, printing half a page and then ejecting the page when a USB
reset is issued. Same printer works fine when printing through Windows in
Virtualbox with USB passthrough.

Problem solved on Canon MP160. Thanks! I will follow posts and test

menu to not show up, but only after I added the 300+ waiting updates and

I seem to be experiencing something similar with 12.04 and a mifi 2352,
no additional software installed:
it works sometimes, sometimes it does not
that means, sometimes after plugging the device into the usb port 'dmesg' shows
lines like "usb 2-1.1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
I no longer possess the hardware in question, however this bug is
resolved with newer kernels which are incorperated into the current Long
Term Support distribution making it irrelevant.

And for final confirmation, I replaced
/usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird.sh with a wrapper which runs 'ulimit -n
4096' and then execs the original shellscript and thunderbird works
again.

In lenovo z860, i used gparted standalone from dvd to create multiple
partitions.
Ntfs ones were then used to install win 7 professional 64 bit.
then in remaining 1 partition i created extended partiation (not starting in
logical/some boundary), within which i created boot, root, user and swap

This happens to me with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 using iwlwifi
driver on Ubuntu Precise while trying to connect to ad-hoc network. It
seems that no other driver uses the mac.
