Confirmed, fixed in 12.04 code.
But "I" did find new potential problems. I used the 'cppcheck' tool for
this. Defenitly try it sometime, it looks only at code syntax, but can
detect allot. apt-get install cppcheck'flawfinder' is another nice
tool for syntax checking.

I am currently running Thunderbird 13.0.1 on Snow Leopard. For several
updates (I'm not sure how many) global search and indexer has not been
turned on when I have upgraded. Also, the x in the search box now
appears. So it no longer seems to be a problem.

I can confirm this with Thunderbird 14.0 on Ubuntu 12.04 and Unity with

Feedback welcome. The bug has nothing to do with case-insensitive file
systems (the underlying file renames are performed with rename(2) on
Linux/OS X and MoveFileExW on Windows, which can handle case change
