Fixed my own issue. The problem with FF was a symptom of a system
problemw ith audio. When I ran strace on FF, it looked like it was
timing out waiting for a socket it had opened to talk to pulse audio. I

If I run the Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) daily live image from USB,
brightness fuctions normally again, so it would seem the kernel
currently used in 12.10 has fixed this issue. Any way to get it fixed in

Notification settings is missing from the Setting manager.
Tried ubuntu-bug xfce4-settings - it reports it does not exist. Nor
xfce4-settings-manager

Since unity revision 2374 [1] the HUD can hang when just searching for a
small string.
In my setup (where I've indicators with big menu items, like the ones that
feedindicator provides), I get it basically doing this:

I did the following.
First, I verified that the usercode was operational using the plx
printer driver. I put in a random usercode and received an "access
restricted" message on the printer's job history screen. Using the
correct usercode, the job printed.
