I am having exactly the same issue, although it doesn't seem to be
related to any panel-stuff in my case. It appeared yesterday, probably
after installing updates from the last two weeks.
When attempting to shut down, nothing appears in /var/log/syslog, and no
new output is added to dmesg.

A similar problem for me with Ubuntu 12.04.
If I have the default situation in /etc/network/interfaces:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
there are no problems.
If I enable wlan0 for wireless connection (i.e.):
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet static
the wi-fi connection has no problem, but if
OK, so the ::1 idea fails as a quick hack. The alternatives seem to be
as follows.
1. Either we accept that nm-dnsmasq is incompatible with every standalone
nameserver and enforce this in a better way;
2. or we force every standalone nameserver into bind-interfaces mode and move
nm-dnsmasq's li
@IKT - why? they seem to be doing quite a good job in many cases and are
popular for a reason. Throwing away opinions because they mention some
company you don't like is a no no - in my opinion.

I need to know what hardware I have and if it is working. Specifically,
every time I try to upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04, I lose my internet
connection and have to do a clean install of 11.10 when the connection
magically reappears. I have tried the upgrade page on the Software

I verified that the kernel for 12.10 works using NetCom in Norway by
testing with libqmi-glib by running:
* qmi-network /dev/cdc-wdm0 start
* dhclient wwan0
Would it be possible to backport the qmi support to a stable NM/MM?
Rebasing the branch to 0.6 did not work without conflicts.
