related: I removed gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver, as I'm not using
them. Could it be that VLC somehow needs (one of) them to be able to

gone to Eagle's download page: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/download-

The missing symlink isn't the only install problem for the package - it
also tries to use a non-existent directory.
Workaround:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libhdf5.so.7.0.2 /usr/lib/libhdf5.so.6
sudo mkdir /usr/local/share/octave/packages
sudo apt-get -f install

Please close this as INVALID. I just tested on a VM and could not
recreate the issue.
Looking closer, my issue was probably due to an installation of Octave
that had been compiled from source and was resident in /usr/local/bin.
