compounding it. In addition to the computer locking when the lid is
closed, sometimes the login screen doesn't appear. All I have is a
blank screen of my desktop. I haven't found a way to fix this or get

Sorry. My problem was that I had installed "cpufreqd" daemon in Presice. In the
configuration file (/etc/cpufreqd.conf) "ondemand/conservative" are disabled by
default. I purged the package and now everything works.

launch SuperTuxKart 3D game.
I can play video and have been able to sucesfully play some other old
Windows 3d games via Wine without a problem.
The same happens also if I use Lubutnu so it's not a unity/compiz
related issue.
I think a proper test methodology on both Windows and Linux should
basically be:
1. Start copy operation and start stopwatch.
2. As soon as the copy is finished on the screen, umount/"Safely
Remove" the drive.
3. Wait for activity light on USB drive to go out and stop stopwatch.

folder /etc/mysql/conf.d/. If that folder is there, Amarok runs fine.

This affects me too. Complete lock up on 64bit since upgrading to 12.04.
Can't even SSH in remotely. Power cycle only option. Dell Precision
M4500, i7 quad core, Nvidia graphics. Have upgraded several other
(32bit) machines without any problems.

I realized that the original report was about messages *from empathy*
not turning the icon blue - not from thunderbird. The discussion somehow
drifted to thunderbird notifications.
Luca: could you please confirm that the original problem concerned
empathy messages? Otherwise this should be marked
This bug is reproducible on 11.10 and 12.04. Specifically this occurs
when the md array has a failed device. However this is a big issue
because the live usb is critical to resolving failed md device issues.
