Leandro, I found (after lng hours of fiddling) that installing all
packages starting with "ibus" and rebooting solves the problem. Don't
know why, it just does. I tested this on both Kubuntu and Lubuntu 12.04.

I am new viewing and reporting information about ubuntu bugs.
I found this thread searching a solution for my Xubuntu 12.04
installation on my old desktop (Xubunut Desktop iso, not Alternate), and
the IOError 32 Broke Pipe.
Here my info:
AMD Sempron 2600+ / Asus A7V600-X / 2GB R
I have the same problem here on my Xubuntu Precise Pangolin.
It was already present running Xubuntu Oneiric.
The only application that shows this is LibreOffice (didn't try OpenOffice)
and it only happens with the Xfce desktop (I tested KDE and Gnome Shell
and the bug didn't appear there).

Had IBUS in 10.04 configured to use the same keys for activating Anthy.
Having to relearn the keys has significant impact on productivity.
So please make the Unity keybinding configurable.

I can confirm the bug, I first noticed it when trying to change a column of an
existing table, then after trying to create a new table - every time when
closing the column properties window.
I can also confirm that changing GTK theme to clearlooks (after installing
gtk2-engines) in KDE's System
Christopher, I have uninstalled lo-menubar, and switched back to
openjdk-7. I am using/testing it now & will report how it works.
