Still getting this bug gets a little farther then ubiquity window disappears.
See Bug #978489 where ubiquity window disappears "about the same time" the
second slideshow image should appear. Copy continues to completion in the
background but install isn't done so it won't work.

It looks like there was something wrong with my installed system. After
a complete removal (including config files) of all VDR packages and re-
installation, the install of vdr-plugin-xineliboutput succeeded.

Actually I think it was that the graphics driver was reset, because I
updated it and now I have a better choice of screen resolutions.

Michael: I'm a little perplexed here, because it looks like update-
manager already attempts to do that (it calls self.fillstore which calls
self.initCache which calls cache.open and cache._initDepCache). Is it
not refreshing the cache hard enough or something?

Just tried it in another VM with more memory. The problem seems to be
that the details on this page
