This appears to be broken in the 2.6 kernel somewhere as I have just tried a
fresh install (USB boot) of natty (11.04) with kernel 2.6.38-8 and it too is
broken, but not quite as broken as the 3.0.0-12 kernel. It takes a long time

I couldn't install the nvidia-current drivers in the pendrive due to
size restrictions (1Gb). I will buy a 4Gb one, do install nvidia-current
drivers and report back. I do hope this problem is solved before Precise
is released, cause it affected Ubuntu since Maverick and the problem is
still there.
We need to get this kernel tested so that it can be included on the next
Lucid point release DVD. Please test if you can.

Upon more investigation I found out that this was caused by a specific
extension I have enabled: Minimize On Start and Close 1.3.2
Disabling this extension solves the problem. I don't have this problem
in Ubuntu 10.10 where I use an up-to-date version of Thunderbird from
the Mozilla Team PPA. Prob

When opening a text-document (DOC or ODT) in Nautilus the LibreOffice
Writer icon in the Panel doesn't show the little white triangle to
indicate that there is a document open/active.
When I click on the LibreOffice Writer icon in the panel a new window of
LibreOffice Writer
Tested with a fresh install of oneiric, seems to working normally.
Perhaps the first time was a fluke.
