Reproduced this behavior on Precise in Unity as well.
I put nautilus on one display, and gedit on the other, both maximized.
On the display with nautilus (the external monitor), using the mouse to
navigate the various indicator menus works. Using the arrow keys to do
the same likewise works. On

possibility to fix that in older releases as well when the fix get some
testing.

@Clint: it's back. On Natty 11.04 I am getting unclean inodes again. I notice
a single inode in dmesg after every boot:
$ cat /var/log/dmesg.0 | grep orphan

Brendan - besides collecting the client HW info using apport-collect, it
is also necessary to know the access point manufacturer, model, firmware
version, and _exact_ wireless settings.

To be completely honest, I'm in way over my head here. I'd love to get
this hammered out and begin to delve into all things Linux but I'm just
