as you say crashes occur when you try to search previous conversation than open
the apport from terminal and try to report that crash because it has the lost
of info.

While trying to figure out why my laptop drive never gets fully to sleep
when running on battery power I discovered that the ubuntuone sync
daemon is appending to /home/$user/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log

The nohpet option worked for me for a while, but then the problem came
