I've created a video that illustrates what's going on here. I open
LibreOffice Writer, and open a file. Note how the file is loaded, but
the title bar of LibreOffice Writer still says 'Untitled 1 - LIbreOffice
Writer' rather than changing to say 'testdoc1.odt - LibreOffice Writer'
as it should. Sor
Ah, turns out to not be an issue of the Depends: field itself, but in
the order binaries are processed:
debfx | pitti: the order of the dependencies is the same but on i386
pkgbinarymangler has already processed libqt4-network before
libqt4-xmlpatterns

Cannot SSH into the machine when the freeze occurs.
Tried leaving a tail-f on sys.log, kern.log, xorg.0.log and dmesg.log when a
freeze happened, and no logging information was displayed.
Not sure what else I can do to work out what is going on with this bug.

I experienced this bug on a machine that was initially installed with
Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) and then upgraded all the way through to 11.04.
Comment #3 fixed the problem for me.
Maybe Bug #46776 caused the broken entry in apt.conf.

Didn't fix it for me, I'm afraid. Strangely, I've found when I use Skype
for an extended period of time, sometimes the window decorations begin
to work correctly, updating themselves in real time as they should. A
reboot or logout reverts it back to the broken state. Very odd.
