actually I'm not sure. I had again some problems that KDE was stuck at the
splash screen after upgrading to Oneiric. But I'm not sure what the cause was
this time. The nvidia-drivers were not removed during the upgrade if I remember
correctly.

Well, not really. The whole theme is messed up. The appearance of any
window, icon, etc. is messed up. I get the same 'gnome-settings-daemon'
errors, and if I kill it and then re-run it, the unity bar is restored
(for a few seconds) and is then killed again, reporting a segmentation
fault for 'gnom
Ah! Thanks, Clint. So then this is actually due to the bug in
debootstrap that prevents it from using -updates.
I'm going to mark this bug Fix Released as it is unrelated at this point
to lxc (or ssh for that matter).

I have the same bug on my Thinkpad 220i with Ubuntu 11.10 and the
official 3.1 kernel. I tried the fix in #13 and that works for me. But
is that fix permanent after reboots?

This was definitely not in previous version of kernel, as Natty and
Maverick didn't have this problem.
I tried last night again and for some strange reason, it now works. All
I can think of is that one of the updates I've applied in the past few
days has also fixed this problem. But I d
this only happened with Oneiric. Kernel 3.0 fixed the freezing on
battery problem but has this bug instead. Well, I can guess you cant
have everything. I am going to try out the latest kernel build and let
you know.
