I have the same issue and can try to provide any information needed. I
have a new Asus u46e with a ssd. The battery life is horrible (I am
currently timing it to give you an accurate number) and the fan is
constantly running. It doesn't do this in Windows. I need a fix badly so
that I can continue
I experience this as well on a relatively fast laptop, but the problem
is not really when shutting down; it's when logging out. That's why
"gtk-logout-helper --logout" is slow as well.

If the audio is not distorted in Totem, then it's a Banshee issue. If the audio
is distorted in Totem but not mplayer, then it's a gstreamer issue. Otherwise,
it's probably either the file, pulseaudio, or something

Currently PAM code is run inside the main lightdm daemon process. This
means that buggy PAM modules can crash lightdm (see bug 829221). We
should change the architecture to run the PAM code inside the session
processes before launching the user session.

Install finish with error installing grub into /dev/sda which is under mdadm
md0 config raid=0 it comprise of 2 x 60 GB SSD drive , sda = sda1-16 GB-swap
+ sd2-44 GB , sdb = sdb1 60GB, md0 is format with ext4 with /. md0 = sda2
+sdb1 = 103 GB
md1 (raid=1 , mirror) = sdc-

Unity slow at log
I confirmed this on a Lucid container. Setting "server_address=1.2.3.4"
and starting/restarting nagios-nrpe-server reports no error but the log
says otherwise :
# /etc/init.d/nagios-nrpe-server start

This can't be fixed in the lightdm in Oneiric, as the architecture runs
the PAM code in the main process. We will change this for Precise, see
bug 881466.
