You should only need the i386 versions if you running 32 bit
applications, like wine.
The command in Message #14 fixed it for me, ie you have to specify both
i386 and amd64 in the reinstall command line. But surely apt-get should

Ever since I did a fresh install of Natty (and subsequently Oneiric) I
have not been able to wake my desktop from suspend to RAM. Sleep
previously worked on Maverick with no problems.

Yes. This is affecting me since the very beginning and irritates me
often.
Also, when you minimize the last window, it takes a lot of time to
minimize and the launcher still behaves as if that window has the focus.
