By default Ubuntu doesn't have an xorg.conf - it works stuff out
automagically. You can create one and add sections in that you need. There is
also /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d which is a directory where you can add
fractions of config file.

developers is working on improving support for MXM (Mobile PCI Express
Module) chips (including many Optimus laptops) and needs some more data
to check his implementation.

To switch to one of the virtual terminals, just press CTRL-ALT-F2
through to CTRL-ALT-F6.

Sorry, the rootstock patch only removes the (rootstock: invalid option
-- 's') error (error 2). The other error can be fixed by installing
tasksel (maybe this should be marked as a dependency?)
