I run Debian 'testing' (wheezy) and have trouble with the linaro image
tools. A minor problem seems to be that python-parted only gets built
for python 2.7, so I have to manually run that version. Not a big
deal. But, then:

I can confirm that this bug still exists in Kernel 3.0.0-11-generic. The
behaviour is like papukaija said. It is pretty annoying and blacklisting
the module isn't a real workaround, because you won't have any control
over backlight. Only workaround I know is installing

250meg of updats today but no change. When vlc was clicked, the system
freeze for 15min, then all ram and 4gb of swap are in use and vlc
appears. But it is not usable, every click turns on swapping again. If
vlc was closed, it swaps around 5 min, then compiz crashes away.

I recently got an old but still very nice Thinkpad T41 with 1.5GB RAM.
'decode-dimms' can't see the DRAM EEPROMs without the i2c-i801 kernel
module. That module doesn't load automatically because it is
blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. When I load it manually

In the future apt-brtfs could be the way to go - taking snaphsots of the
system and reverting the state on broken operations. But also a problem
for systems with /home and /root on the same parition.
