The winbind client library should be the same in samba 3 and samba 4, so
I don't see how the patch is problematic. The workaround shouldn't be
necessary.

If you are not sure if it is really enabled, try opening a Terminal
window, running nano (type nano and press enter), then open a new tab
and run "killall -SEGV nano" (without the quotes). If Apport is enabled
