I am very sorry to bring such bad news, but the bug exists even in
Oneiric Daily builds with kernel 3.0.6 (or 3.0.0-6 [can't remember]), so
even the new version of linux kernel didn't change a thing :(
I hope the problem gets looked at soon- it's a pity, that in 9 month

The keymaps.sh script stops because it detects setupcon, and decides
that console-setup will take over.
console-setup by means of setupcon loads /etc/console-setup/cached.kmap.gz ,
which is qwerty. Overwriting it with a dvorak-keymap and then calling:

i think it is better to remove the acceleration given by the distance
from the area to scroll
trigger area and speed should be constant and slow independently from
mouse position
but if user "shakes" the mouse the speed must increase (this is
currently implemented and works good)

I have these lockups on my Lenovo T520 as well. The system locks up
completly but randomly. Nothing improved with the few sandybridge

I found out that the only way out of this situation that happens every
day is to run "unity --reset" in a terminal, after that the launcher is
back to where it belongs: the foreground.

I confirm that #39 fixed it on Dell Vostro 3500, Nvidia 310M, Kubuntu natty.
Applied as follows:
1 – Add the following line to /etc/default/grub:
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1360x768 // or whatever is your native resolution
2 – echo FRAMEBUFFER=y | sudo tee /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash

The start command is provided by upstart, which is an essential
component of any Ubuntu system; and /sbin is on the standard path. so
if 'start' cannot be found on your system, this does not appear to be a
bug in an Ubuntu package
