users mount Windows shares without giving them some kind of extra
privileges (the setuid root in 10.04 was not nice, either). Gnome's
"Connect to server" (gvfs) works, but is gnome-specific and not easily

on a VT which also has a getty on it (presumably VT1). At first startup,

The new alsa-hda-dkms works for me, as it is no longer necessary to turn
on EAPD @ 0x1b at every reboot.
Both speakers and internal mic work; mic's quality is still bad, but it
is usable. I wonder if this is a hardware problem (it shouldn't be).
The bad news is that headphones do not work anymore
I forgot to say, i uninstalled the previous alsa-hda-dkms package before
trying, and i am using kernel 2.6.39.

Let's workaround that (and will help people still using gdm as well), in
setting the unity-2d gconf settings system-wide. We just keep the
metacity changes in the unity-2d session.
