Actually, this bug should be pretty easy to find, since it is in the
release notes for Xbuntu 11.04. It was reported during the natty
development cycle, and has been reported to upstream. There is no
estimate for a fix, but as noted above, there is a really good

It reminded me of the X freeze when playing flash videos in full screen,

kernel. It will be replaced by a new kernel which will revert the

I had same problem. it was because of .bash file. i had edited that
file. After editing it to normal form every thing seems fine.
my terminal is back again in normal form.

better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner.
However the people working on Ubuntu are trying to do their best to handle
(comment and fix) the incoming bug
Some have experienced this problem under 10.04, but not me. On my machine
(Thinkpad X200, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz) powertop was
working fine on 10.04.
After installation of 11.04 powertop goes crazy on my machine, too.

Note that the patch from comment #33 is slated to be included in
2.6.38.8 and will be included in natty after that kernel is released.
This specific regression is being tracked on bug #787590.
Is anyone still experiencing problems not fixed by that patch?
