It happens to me too in LibreOffice writer, Eclipse and Netbeans, every
time I'm selecting some text and try to drag it somewhere.
But I have a silly temporary solution. I'm opening chrome browser and
select and drag some random text from a random site in the launcher.

I found a silly way to make the menu hide again.
The launcher gets stuck for a number of applications, but I always can
make it hide again doing the following:

The GTK debian-installer build was disabled for a few releases due to
various build problems, so you can't use

It's fine for the Debian-specific files to exist, as long as Ubuntu-
specific analogues also exist. The version in oneiric, at least, seems
to have suitable Ubuntu-specific files, and I think they've existed for
a while.
