I have the same experience on the Toshiba C650D-007 laptop. It has the
Realtek RTL8188CE card and uses the RTL8192 driver.
I have confirmed the same thing in Suse 11.4 and Fedora 15 Beta as well.
The common thread appears to be the 2.6.38 version of the kernel.

I created an ad-hoc wifi network with Network Manager by going to "edit
connection", selecting the "wireless" tab clicking "Add" and selecting
"ad hoc".
I usually can connect to it by going to "connect to hidden network" and
selecting it
"(...) 'sudo mv /usr/local /usr/local.old && sudo mkdir /usr/local'."--

dev-tools might as well just pull them in so we don't have to fetch them
separately. Ideally, installing this package should mean you're ready to

The Brother IntelliFAX 2820 printer is not detected correctly. The
packages needed are brother-lpr-drivers-laser and brother-cups-wrapper-
laser. However, when Ubuntu detects the printer it notifies you there
