I had installed some gnome components when I tried to make ubuntuone
work, and it seems that there was a problem with python:

I think I nailed it down. I have a ecryptfs directory from previous
install (I installed natty from a USB stick but preserved my home
directory). If I move $HOME/.ecryptfs somewhere else (i.e. mv .ecryptfs
Desktop), autologin starts to work. Of course, it is then no longer

I agree, there are two types of problems that are referenced here, both
of them show that the driver is not being used in jockey, but for some
the drivers are still working, and for some (including me) none of the
OpenGL functions are working.

Following the suggestion in #9 I temporarily moved the .ecryptfs
directory. And auto login did indeed start to work. Moving the directory
back caused auto login to stop working again.

After some more testing and debugging I've found the problem.
The last time I had used bibble5 I used it under Gnome and in Bibble5's
Full Screen Mode (See Menu „View” or press alt+enter).
Therefore, Bibble5 came up in fullscreen mode again when starting. And
then for some reason is not recognize
It also affects netbook toshiba NB255
I found typing 'help' works

Is it possible to look to beagle and/or tracker for how to approach this
problem? I've used both in the past, and it worked reasonably well (Impact of
bugs aside). Definitely better than the current situation.
I also agree comment #15 seems to be a very reasonable approach.
