Apparently something had left /usr/share/initramfs-
tools/hooks/plymouth.orig and /usr/share/initramfs-
tools/hooks/plymouth.orig~ files in my file system. Deleting these files
let the update proceed. Possibly reassign to initramfs-tools, and
possibly make those packages more robust to backup files

Update: The problem (for me at least) appears to be that pulseaudio was
not starting on login. When starting it by hand from a terminal window,
the volume and Sound Preferences magically start to work again.

Must admit now struggling with apparent inflexibility of Unity Dash -
may revert to Classic as disadvantages seem to outweigh small
improvement in screen depth.

I think that Unity should follow the behaviour of gconf-editor.
DIsabling this ability is clearly a regression and not a solution.

I'm seeing similar behavior, but the behavior depends on the command
being used, i.e. if I use 'cd' the trailing slashes are appended to a
directory name as they were in 10.10, but if I use 'ls' or 'less', they
aren't.

I'm using natty on my laptop since beta2 release and it have no problem
until now. Moreover, by the first time I can use the openchrome X driver
working with the laptop screen. I had to use the vesa driver until
maverick because of that.
