Note: It actually works for CDs - if I insert a CD, I can create a boot
USB for that. But for ISOs, it fails (and it shouldn't).
I can mount ISOs as directories without problem, so it's not that. Seems
the program fails when the user tries to add an ISO to the list and
that's all there is to it.
I haven't done more than described. For me it's the same on my amd64 PC
with nvidia proprietary driver evolution didn't work as described. On my
netbook it worked as expected.

This is likely caused by the lack of sync of the administrative file
when it's updated by update-alternatives. With ext4 it is some possible
under some conditions that the file was moved in place before that its
content has been written...
I have pushed a fix for this in upstream's git repository:
the deadline for the ubiquity-slideshow was 14/4
(NonLanguagePackTranslation).

invalid because it's a NonLanguagePack.

I had the same issue, but it's not really a bug imho, just an incomplete
repository. If you edit your /etc/apt/sources.list and change all
instances of "ie.archive.ubuntu.com" to "archive.ubuntu.com" then run
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade you can get the missing packages from
that repo success

Well, the network name issue doesn't block the install anymore. But it
still wrongly reports that the network name exists already.
Worse: with the daily build of 20-4, Ubiquity apparently doesn't
recognize the hard disk anymore, so it "hangs" in the slide show: no
partitioning proposal.

seconds after the login.With driver version "270.41.06" nothing is
displayed on screen, I'm able to move the mouse pointer but I can't do

As you said, the upgrade failure is caused by mtop which is bug 77980. Marking
as duplicate.
Remove mtop before upgrading or configure it with a valid user/password for the
mysql db.

I am still on 10.04 LTS Lucid servers and I have been seeing this
reported behavior for a couple of days. Evidently it does not only
affect upgrades to 10.10.
I see one comment about lucid-proposed, but at the top Lucid is not
included in the affects list.
Oh, #13 did not include the word Lucid..
