Just confirmed that, on the same machine, Unity runs Audacity OK. Logged
out, logged back into Unity and ran Audacity fine.
(The reason I'm running 2D at all BTW, is that I have other problems
with the desktop locking up and white windows but it managed to hold
itself together long enough to run A
I cannot reproduce the artifacts in chromium (the ones from the
screencast), but all the other ones (so maybe that's two bugs here). See
bug 754609 for some screenshots and a screencast.
At first I thought it does only happen with my Nvidia GPU, but I
obviously did something wrong during testing -

I am a student of PHP so I am relatively new to it. I am using BlueFish
to edit my php web files but when I click on the little Earth icon,
nothing happens. I am expecting the browser to execute my file. I
checked in Preferences/External and I placed Mozilla at the top of the
Fabio, after I posted my last comment, I closed the terminal and closed
my laptop lid. When I reopened it, I found it never suspended at all
this time. I'm attaching the log file anyway, just in case it's useful.

I can confirm this bug. But unlike mentioned by Ingo in the bug
description, clicking on the grippy makes the panel disappear again. The
panel only comes in the timeframe between the appearance of the grippy
and the click on the grippy. The rest is normal.

well restarting portmap and nfs helped, and i don't want now to revert
back to faulty config.
i was getting this mesage when booting my diskless workstations:
mount.nfs: rpc.statd is not running but is required for remote locking.

I just said that the problem disappeared from my system, but this turns
out only to be partly true. When the Unity desktop is on for a few hours
it seems like some processes are slowly increasing memory. Like compiz
started at 70 MB Ram, but increased to 160 MB Ram in a few hours.
I have just rest
I'm afraid I can't upgrade, this is a production system that will have
to stay on LTS.
I am, however, still able to reproduce this (Lucid i386 chroot inside
Lucid x64 system). I have attached the strace log.
