With the "success_boot" I booted with the external monitor turned off
and then when desktop showed on to internal monitor I switched the
external monitor on. (The result was a desktop on the external monitor
as expected.)
With the "filed_boot" I booted with the external monitor turned on and

I had the same problem. Now I checked again. I'm now using
Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS
which includes
synergy 1.3.1-6ubuntu1
and for me the problem does not seem to occur anymore - Thanx!

I was surprised at the magenta that came up in debconf in gnome-terminal
today. Can I ask you to provide Marcus with a set of instructions to get
gnome-terminal showing one of those, so he can double-check that the
colour has come out as hoped?
