As for gsettings reset com.canonical.Unity.Launcher favorites, it's
insufficient. It automatically adds launchers located on the desktop and
clogs the Unity bar.

Maverick is currently on fglrx 2:8.780-0ubuntu2 / Catalyst 10.10.
I installed 2:8.801-0ubuntu1~xup~maverick / Catalyst 10.12 through
ubuntu-x-swat (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates).
I can confirm that I am no longer experiencing the issue under 8.801 /
Catalyst 10.12.
