source. deflogin is set to on but still PS1 is lost within byobu. all
goes well when running just screen. moving PS1 from .profile to .bashrc

Actually @mrmagos, the static came in with the kernel upgrade, not the
6.14.0 driver. If you boot with the 2.6.38-3 kernel, you won't get
static.
But this bug isn't fixed by the driver upgrade.

I have the same error, when i set it to the right/left and back the panel looks
good again. but it's annoying.
Ubuntu 10.10, and all updates. acer timeline a810tgz (with ati card) :-)and
compiz on.

Arch Linux, Compiz 0.8.6, no Maximus installed (whatever it is). Problem
appears with K3b and KmPlot, the fix from the comment #13 solves the
problem.

I found my /var/lib/dpkg/status file was somehow corrupted, and that a
temporary workaround is to replace /var/lib/dpkg/status with
/var/lib/dpkg/status-old.

I have the same issue and (like others) I can recreate it at will. When
I connect my USB wireless card it seem to work properly (just some
seconds). After that I can see the error in every tty console:
phy1 -> rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset
0x422 with erro
