Public bug reported:
Hi I installed MySql-server in my ubuntu as per the guidelines given by
https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/C/mysql.html
during installation it is asked for bind-address, I gave it as 127.0.0.1

Hmm, seems I was mistaken. There is a postinst script in alsa-utils that
renames /etc/modprobe.d/sound to /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf - but that
doesn't help here, I guess.
Anyway, it's been named .conf as long as I've been interested in
Ubuntu's audio stack, so what upgrade path do you have?

I think I managed to recreate this once, the flash tar wasn't downloaded

There is no indication of any issue connecting in the natty logs you
provided (or maverick, for that matter); at least that I can see. Did
you apply your workaround before submitting information? If so, please

Hmm, I'm trying to figure out in what order things happen here. In
principle we have four things that can set the volume:
1) HDA driver initialization
2) /sbin/alsa-utils mixer restore script
3) gdm's pulseaudio
4) logged in user's pulseaudio.
Is the volume loud on the login screen as well?
