this problem on a ubuntu 10.10 x86 desktop. Despite being a desktop,
gnome-power-manager sees some action because it warns when the mouse
(logitech mx1000) battery gets low.

One way to trigger it is to do a screenshot of the desktop, open it
using nautilus and then open the files place, type the screenshot title
if needed, the place doesn't seem to update as it should
