For my version of the bug (See post #210) I'm having similar results as
julius, 2.6.32-27 seems to have stopped the freeze, Although I'm still
using the acpi=force irqpoll boot options. My next step will be to
remove those and see if my system is still stable.

Ron, just so I am clear about your comments; you are saying that the
root cause of this "Blank screen on boot defect" is due to use of an
nVidia "G86" version GeForce 8400GS GPU and you can resolve this
problem by using a different, later version of the 8400GS GPU?

After about 10 restarts of Rhythmbox (not counting the crashes, which
were plentiful), the song mysteriously downloaded. Don't ask me how, but
this is not a very positive intro to the U1 music store. Whatever's

This bug still exists in Maverick.
I'm curious why there needs to be mappings of what device contains the
root volume, etc. Why can't it just use what is in crypttab? Is there a
reason that it needs to figure out which mount contains your root
filesystem and ignore other configured containers?

I tried installing ubuntu 32 and 64 bit multiple times each on a Toshiba
120GB hdd on my lenovo T61. Each time, it crashed about 3/4 through the
installation. When it crashed, it came up with an error message. When
I clicked OK, it came up wit

message that I cannot attach empty files. Apparently, they are empty.

debdiffs: the lucid and maverick versions of the package use dpatch to
manage changes and it's preferred to make changes within that system;
also, remember to update the maintainer field to not point at the Debian
maintainer.
