I made a connection with another problem I had. In fact I use pump mode
for distcc which insists on having python-2.5 directory which does not
exist, so I just made a symlink to python-2.6 and this is the culprit
for the failed update. Sorry I had forgotten about this bug in the
meantime.

I can confirm that kernel 2.6.37-rc8 fixes this particular problem
(sound only on right speaker) in Natty.
In Maverick (I have not tried Lucid but bug 670570 reports this problem
in Lucid), installing the ubuntu-audio-dev drivers from 28 Dec. (at

I'm on a Vaio VPCF1390X. In Maverick with kernel 2.6.36 I was able to
get the line-in microphone to work with the Ubuntu-audio-dev ALSA
snapshots.
In Natty, the microphone does not seem to work out of the box, but I was
able to get the line-in mic to work with mainline kernel 2.6.37-rc8

I have a similar case where I can pair my Logitech Mediaboard Pro with
one bluetooth adapter, but not another. Both adapters functioned
properly with Kubuntu 10.04 (this may have been a different bluetooth
stack?). Now in Ubuntu 10.10 with bluez my laptop's internal bluetooth
will properly and pe
This is fixed in kernel 2.6.37 (at least from RC3 up). It will not be a
problem in Natty (although the trackpad is still only reported as a PS/2
wheel mouse).
