I have a similar experience, but on closing a fullscreen app I dont see
white, just the desktop background.
I Installed Maverick UNR (on Acer aspire revo),
can reproduce by: open firefox, f11 to go full screen (unity bars auto-
hide), f4 to close. All see is the background and the mouse cursor,
A 24 hr analog clock isnt only a theme, its also the changed hour hand
behaviour. I dont see how removing that behaviour will force us to 'stop
supporting clock themes'.

My point is, as long as we support themes and 24 hr themes exist we must

Confirmed. I can reproduce the issue for Empathy 2.32.1 on Ubuntu 10.10.

showing running and if you click it it flashes for a bit and returns to

An alternative way of doing it would be to use the rt2800pci module and
add a script to unload it on shutdown. I've found that the rt2800pci
module works better, but sometimes causes the system to freeze when
shutting it down, but I added a script in /etc/init.d, and linked it (ln
-s) into /etc/rc0
